NOTHING’S EVER BLACK AND WHITE

NOTHING’S EVER BLACK AND WHITE

Nothing’s ever black and white.
From shades of gray we must find right.
The TV shows of yesteryear
Are part of thoughts that we hold dear,
And many favorites from that day
Have slowly, surely, passed away.
So now that black and white is gone
In living color we trudge on.

Life did look great in black and white.
Friends and enemies known by sight.
A teacher's look could instill fear
Or comfort one and dry a tear.
When I Love Lucy and The Real McCoys
Were not just part of a sponsors ploys,
To sell us products we didn't need
And satisfy their corporate greed.

Going back to black and white
Most likely will not end our plight.
But we can dream of days gone by
While giving color one more try.
Be proud of red and white and blue
They've taken on a brighter hue
Since towers fell and thousands died,
While smoke arose and the eagle cried.

Black and white need not be bad.
Just think of all the fun we've had.
And in the future, blessed we'll be,
Cause through the black and white we'll see,
Golden rays from God's own hand,
Give us strength to take a stand.
For we may struggle for a while
But soon we'll see the eagle smile.
